Abstract

The journal aims to cover the whole field of biology, in particular the growth areas of modern biology.Articles range from comprehensive reviews of a broad research field to shorter articles on more specialised topics, and a very great flexibility in content and presentation is allowed.Articles are pitched at a level for experts in the particular field of research, but authors are asked to write in a way that is intelligible to the non-expert so that scientists unfamiliar with the topic can learn something from it.Articles can be extensively illustrated. All articles are subject to refereeing and articles presenting a new theory or point of view are preferred.Reviews of books are not published. What Biological Reviews offers 1. Wide international circulation 2. Fast publication: currently about 3 months from acceptance 3. Flexible policy on nature of articles, with scope for extensive tables and illustrations 4. High production standards 5.
