An Uncommon Case of Ecthyma Gangrenosum in a Three‐Year‐Old Immunocompetent Child
Abstract
ABSTRACT Ecthyma gangrenosum (EG) is a rare cutaneous finding of Pseudomonas aeruginosa sepsis, typically in immunocompromised patients. We present EG with septic shock in a previously healthy three‐year‐old child who presented with rapidly progressing necrotic eschars and severe neutropenia. Prompt antibiotic therapy, inotropic support, and surgical debridement led to a full recovery. Early diagnosis and aggressive management are critical for favorable outcomes.
