Abstract

Abstract As the construction industry shifts toward circular economy principles, structural systems must evolve to enable disassembly, adaptability, and reuse. This research presents a comprehensive numerical and parametric investigation into bolted steel connections incorporating long slotted holes, targeting beam‐to‐column configurations. The use of slotted holes has the purpose of providing adaptability to the connection in order to enable its use with different configurations of supporting and supported members. Key joint characteristics were investigated, as joint stiffness and classification as well as failure modes and behaviour in shear. The slip resistance, key to the serviceability behaviour was also studied.
