Abstract

We present a mild and environmentally friendly method for the synthesis of α‐nitroketones via the electrochemical olefin oxidation–nitration reaction. Our method uses the mild inorganic salt Fe(NO 3 ) 3 ·9H 2 O as a nitrogen source, avoids the use of explosive nitromethane, and still efficiently converts aryl and heterocyclic compounds into α‐nitroketones.
