Abstract

A new study has found that chemotherapy does not increase risk for primary hypothyroidism, but that cisplatin increases this risk in combination with radiation therapy in childhood cancer survivors. This and other findings, including the prevalence of thyroid peroxidase antibodies among survivors, are discussed in the context of previous studies and suggestions for future research.
