Abstract

Aryldiazonium salts continue to play a significant role in organic synthesis, but their synthetic processes remain considerably hazardous. Herein, arylation of heteroarenes from simple anilines was achieved by merging nitrate reduction with photocatalysis. Anilines were initially converted to the fleeting diazonium salts in the presence of iron(III) nitrate and sodium thiosulfate, followed by coupling with heteroarenes under photocatalysis. This reaction utilizes low‐hazard and readily available starting materials, affording a series of arylated heteroarenes with good yields in a safer single step.
