Abstract

ABSTRACT The increasing demand for sustainable energy solutions has driven significant progress in creating green nano‐composites‐based energy storage systems (ESS). These innovative materials, derived from natural and renewable resources, offer an auspicious substitute for conventional energy storage technologies that often pose environmental risks. Green nano‐composites amalgamate biopolymers with nano‐fillers, including carbon nanotubes and metal oxides, and significantly augment mechanical, electrical, and thermal attributes. Recent studies illustrate their potential in diverse ESS, such as batteries and supercapacitors, highlighting enhancements in energy density, cycling stability, and overall efficiency. This review provides an overview of green nano‐composites composition, synthesis techniques, and performance metrics while highlighting their challenges, such as scalability and market readiness. Furthermore, we identify future research directions and the need for interdisciplinary approaches to advance these sustainable materials. Green nanocomposites are at the forefront of revolutionizing ESS and making the energy scene much more sustainable. This is because they are low in carbon emissions and use eco‐friendly technologies. The findings underscore the necessity of ongoing research and innovation to augment the characteristics and applications of green nanocomposite materials within the energy sector.
