Abstract

In this work, SiO 2 , TiO 2 , Fe 3 O 4 , and ZnO oxide‐nanofluids as selectively absorbing fluids were applied for spectral beam splitting hybrid PVT solar receiver. The full spectrum is divided into photovoltaic/thermal two parts to decouple the collection temperature is limited by the operating temperature of the photovoltaic cell. The effect of nanoparticle mass loading from 0.0001 to 0.05 wt% on the optical property and electrical/thermal output performance of the PV/T system were experimental studied. The results indicated the optical transmittance of nanofiltering liquid decrease with accumulation of mass loading, and the average transmittance at the spectral response range of monocrystalline cell reaches the maximum of 66.15%, 66.93%, 70.51%, and 72.26% for SiO 2 , TiO 2 , Fe 3 O 4 , and ZnO nanofiltering liquid, respectively. The maximum filter efficiencies of SiO 2 , TiO 2 , Fe 3 O 4 , and ZnO nanofluids are 34.87%, 19.68%, 32.28%, and 40.83%, correspondingly the comprehensive efficiency are 74.78%, 69.27%, 73.91%, and 78.42%, respectively. It is concluded that the ZnO nanofiltering liquid exhibits optimal filter efficiency and its comprehensive efficiency is 78.42% when the mass loading is 0.005 wt%, implying well‐matched with monocrystalline cell.
