Enhancing Transmission Raman Spectroscopy Using the Microstructure‐Reinforced Collection Fiber
Abstract
ABSTRACT Transmission Raman spectroscopy (TRS) is a powerful tool for bulk analysis of opaque materials. However, its inherently weak Raman signal requires higher collection efficiency than conventional backscattering Raman spectroscopy. To mitigate this, we present a proof‐of‐concept for improving Raman collection efficiency by engineering microstructures directly onto optical fiber end‐faces. We develop a streamlined design‐fabrication‐benchmark methodology to efficiently create these optimized fiber facets. Experiments confirm that the microstructured fibers yield higher coupling coefficients, further achieving an average TRS intensity enhancement of 7.04% across the 850‐ to 950‐nm spectral range. In sum, the personalized collection probe would benefit the weak Raman signal detection and further promote a set of spectroscopic analytical tools.
