Study on Corrosion Behavior and Mechanisms of Three B10 Cu–Ni Alloys in Static Immersion
Abstract
ABSTRACT The development of high‐performance copper–nickel alloys is a critical requirement for the stable operation of seawater pipelines in ships. However, the insufficient corrosion resistance of existing B10 materials limits their application in equipment. This paper compares the corrosion behavior differences of three copper–nickel alloy tubes during static immersion using XRF, EBSD, WLI, SEM, FIB, and electrochemical data. The results indicate that continuous and larger cracks within the film reduce the material's corrosion resistance compared to the thickness of the corrosion product film. In the early stages of corrosion, the inherent corrosion resistance of the matrix (alloy element content) is the key factor influencing corrosion behavior. As the soaking time increases, good surface smoothness and film adhesion are crucial for maintaining stable corrosion resistance.
