Establishing an endowment prematurely carries significant risks. “If you don't have the resources (both internal and external) in place, you will fail. It's true of any campaign,” Alotto warns. “When an organization fails to meet a goal, the organization loses credibility with the public, and the public doesn't see the endowment as urgent.
