Med Phys. 2015;42(10):6033-6047. https://doi.org/10.1118/1.4930053 Section 4.D.2. addresses lateral volume averaging and provides examples of volume-averaging perturbation factors for small fields assuming a pancake-type detector and a Gaussian lateral dose distribution model. The authors made a mistake in solving the integral, by forgetting a term from the determinant of the Jacobian matrix in cylindrical coordinates. Here is the correct approach. We apologize for this error.
