Abstract

The cover feature for this research depicts the application of extreme pressure and high-temperature for the synthesis of new phases inaccessible through conventional solid-state synthesis techniques. The application of pressure is here depicted by the Titan holding the weight of the world beneath which the extreme pressure is generated. The opposing physical effects of pressure and temperature represent the multianvil high-pressure, high-temperature techniques used to synthesize new crystal structures. The new crystal structure, Sr4Te4O15, which is the subject of this research is depicted on the right, showing heavily corrugated (3 × 3) perovskite-like layers. More information can be found in the Research Article by Gunter Heymann and co-workers (DOI: 10.1002/open.202500583).
