Poly(Ionic Liquids)‐based Hydrogels: Integrating Moisturizing and Antibacterial Functions for Wound Healing Applications
Abstract
ABSTRACT Wound management still remains a huge challenge. According to the theory of moist wound healing, it is particularly important to develop dressings with good moisturizing properties. Here, vinyl imidazolium bromide was used as a monomer to copolymerize with acrylamide to prepare polyvinyl imidazolium bromide hydrogels, which have good moisturizing properties, providing a moist environment for wounds to promote healing. Besides that, the prepared hydrogel exhibited good mechanical properties and antimicrobial properties. And it was also demonstrated to be biocompatible by CCK‐8 experiments and cell live death staining. Animal wound model experiments and histological analysis proved that poly(ionic liquids) (PIL) hydrogel can promote wound healing. Meanwhile, PIL hydrogel provided a useful reference for the design of moisturizing wound dressings and presented potential applications in the clinical treatment of wounds.
