A Study on Reaction Mechanism of CO 2 Dissociation in Atmospheric Plasma Discharge With Pin‐to‐Pin Electrode
Abstract
ABSTRACT This paper presents a detailed study of atmospheric‐pressure nonequilibrium CO 2 plasma discharge with needle‐to‐needle electrode configuration. Using experimentally measured 100 ns pulsed voltage waveform as input, three quenching pressures are considered. The calculated discharge current and power trends are in good agreement with experimental measurements. The results show that the discharge remains highly concentrated in the interelectrode gap region. When the quenching pressure increases from 22.5 to +∞ Torr, the peak gas temperature exceeds 4000 K, the ratio of direct ionization rate to photoionization rate decreases from 4000 to 20. In the early discharge stage, the quenching reaction of O( 1 D) with CO 2 contributes the most to the fast gas heating fraction, making it the dominant reaction driving gas temperature rise.
