Abstract

ABSTRACT In order to develop high‐energy and low‐sensitivity energetic materials and expand the preparation method of 1,3,5,7‐tetranitro‐1,3,5,7‐tetraazacyclooctane (HMX) composites, this paper introduces the oil‐in‐oil (O/O) emulsion method into the preparation of HMX composite energetic materials, and selects 1,1‐diamino‐2,2‐dinitroethylene (FOX‐7) to prepare high‐energy and low‐sensitivity HMX/FOX‐7 composite microspheres. The effects of the ratio of discontinuous phase to continuous phase, the type and content of surfactant, on the stability of the emulsion were studied. The optimum preparation conditions of HMX/FOX‐7 composite microspheres were determined by experiments. The results of scanning electron microscopy, X‐ray diffraction, and Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy showed that HMX and FOX‐7 were linked to each other to form microspheres. The composite microspheres had good spherical structure and thermal properties. The particle size distribution H 50 was 50.3 µm. The activation energy (Ea) of the composite microsphere.
