Locking the Phase: Stabilizing CsPbI 3 Quantum Dots for High‐Performance LEDs
Abstract
CsPbI3 quantum dots (QDs) are highly promising materials for light-emitting diode (LED) applications due to their exceptional optoelectronic properties. However, their inherent instability, characterized by a spontaneous phase transition from the perovskite structure to a non-perovskite phase, critically hampers practical deployment. This instability arises from intrinsic structural features and environmental factors. To address these challenges, researchers have explored various strategies to stabilize the perovskite phase and enhance LED performance. Key approaches include size confinement to reduce phase transition tendencies, ionic doping to optimize structural stability, surface passivation to mitigate defect densities, and encapsulation to improve resistance to external conditions like moisture and oxygen. Despite significant progress, challenges such as long-term stability and scalable manufacturing persist. Future efforts may focus on refined surface chemistry, advanced material interfaces, and high-efficiency device designs to unlock broader applications of CsPbI3 QDs in optoelectronics.
