Synergistic Enhancement of Mechanical and Electrical Properties and Corrosion Resistance of Graphene‐Copper Composites by Accumulative Roll Bonding
Abstract
ABSTRACT Graphene‐reinforced copper (Gr/Cu) composites have attracted considerable attention because of their potential to achieve a synergistic enhancement of strength, electrical conductivity, and corrosion resistance; however, the poor dispersion of graphene in the Cu matrix remains a key limitation for their further development. In this study, Gr/Cu composites were prepared via powder metallurgy and processed through accumulative roll‐compositing (ARC). Multiple testing methods were employed to analyze the microstructure and the mechanical, electrical, and corrosion properties. The evolution of microstructure and performance with increasing ARC cycles was systematically investigated along with the underlying mechanisms. The results show that ARC promotes graphene dispersion and grain refinement in the Cu matrix. With increasing ARC cycles, the composite shows higher microhardness and tensile strength, while retaining high electrical conductivity above 96%IACS. After 168 h of immersion in artificial seawater, the ARC‐100 sample exhibits the highest impedance, indicating improved long‐term corrosion resistance. These findings demonstrate that high‐cycle ARC provides an effective processing strategy for achieving a synergistic enhancement of strength, electrical conductivity, and corrosion resistance in Gr/Cu composites.
