P‐115: Evaluation of Color Crosstalk in RGB Independently Controlled Backlight Displays
Abstract
This paper introduces a “Color Crosstalk” measurement method for assessing the overall color shifts in LCD systems with RGB independently controlled backlights. By investigating the crosstalk mechanism in such LCD systems, we extracted the image elements that influence crosstalk and designed a series of test patterns with variable elements. Data were collected using a colorimeter and integrated through multi‐dimensional algorithms to obtain a coefficient representing the overall crosstalk level of the LCD system. Our research found that crosstalk manifests as zonal RGB halos[2][3], similar to the halos seen in MiniLED white light. In an RGB MiniLED LCD system, image size, pixel grayscale, and color are significant influencing factors. By integrating multi‐dimensional algorithms, we obtained coefficients representing the extent of “white‐to‐color” and “color‐to‐white” crosstalk, which were summed to derive an overall crosstalk coefficient. By constructing a crosstalk evaluation model and collecting corresponding data, the interaction between “crosstalk” and “color gamut”[1] can be analyzed and adapted to human visual perception, providing data guidance for the design of RGB independently controlled backlight LCD systems.
