Abstract

ABSTRACT Enzymes are expensive substances that require special storage and operational conditions. Therefore, it is very important to replace them with substances that have a similarly powerful function. For this purpose, in this research, microspheres composed of cobalt and manganese were synthesized and encased in a conductive organic matrix containing G‐C 3 N 4 nanotubes and poly pyrrole. In the presence of the Co‐Mn hybrid composite, glucose was converted into gluconic acid and H 2 O 2 . Subsequently, the generated H 2 O 2 was further decomposed into hydroxyl radicals (·OH) and water, with the resulting ·OH oxidizing colorless 3,3′,5,5′‐tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) to produce blue ox‐TMB products. The results demonstrated that the fabricated composite exhibits peroxidase‐like activity, which can accelerate TMB oxidation in the presence of H 2 O 2 under conditions: 2 mg/mL of catalyst dosage and 25 mM of initial TMB concentration at 25°C and pH 4.8, when the hydrogen peroxide concentration alters from 0.13 to 0.63 mg/mL. Under these conditions, the catalyst kept high relative activity in different H 2 O 2 concentrations. This innovative composite exhibited remarkable dual enzymatic properties, specifically resembling glucose oxidase and peroxidase activities. This methodology was employed for the enzyme‐free quantification of glucose in blood serum, yielding promising results.
