Abstract

ABSTRACT The complexes cis ‐Cl, cis ‐ μ ‐Cl, cis ‐ L S 1 [( L S 1 ) 2 BiCl 2 ( μ 2 ‐Cl)] 2 ( 1 ), cis ‐Cl, cis ‐ μ ‐Cl, trans ‐ L S 2 [( L S 2 ) 2 BiCl 2 ( μ 2 ‐Cl)] 2 ( 2 ), [( L S 3 ) 3 BiCl 3 ] ( 3 ) and trans ‐Cl, cis ‐ μ ‐Cl, cis ‐ L S 3 {[( L S 3 ) 2 BiCl 2 ( μ ‐Cl)] n } ( 4 ) were obtained for the first time. Their synthesis was carried out by reactions of 1,3‐dimethyl‐( L S 1 ), 1,3‐diethyl‐( L S 2 ) and 1‐methyl‐4,5‐diphenyl‐1 H ‐Imidazole‐2(3 H )‐thione ( L S 3 ) with BiCl 3 . The novel procedures of synthesis for ligands L S 1 ‐ L S 3 were used. The L S 2 ligand was synthesized for the first time. The composition of the complexes was determined using elemental analysis, 1 H, 13 C NMR and IR spectroscopy. X‐ray diffraction analysis for complexes 1 , 2 and 4 was performed. The formation of two types of dimeric complexes 1 and 2 with different mutual arrangement of ligands relative to the bismuth center has been revealed. A new type of a corner‐sharing polymer complex 4 was discovered.
