Insights Into Bioactive Triterpenoids From Euphorbia dentata Michx.: Targeted Isolation, In Vitro Biological Evaluation, and In Silico Studies
Abstract
ABSTRACT Twelve triterpenoids were obtained from the whole plants of Euphorbia dentata Michx. by small molecule accurate recognition technology. Among them, asiatic acid and β‐sitosterol showed moderate antioxidant activities, as well as asiatic acid, oleanolic acid, lupeol, and betulinic acid potently inhibited α‐glucosidase. Enzyme kinetic analysis revealed that asiatic acid, oleanolic acid, and lupeol acted as non‐competitive inhibitors, whereas betulinic acid was a mixed‐typed inhibitor. Computational studies further supported their binding affinity and structural stability with α‐glucosidase, consistent with the experimental findings. These findings indicated that triterpenoids from E. dentata might serve as promising natural antioxidants and α‐glucosidase inhibitors.
