Abstract

ABSTRACT A facile synthesis of α‐aminophosphonates has been achieved via a three‐component reaction of aldehydes, azides, and triethylphosphite under solvent‐free conditions, using tetrabutylammonium iodide (TBAI) as a catalyst. In the presence of this benign iodine analogue, the one‐pot reaction efficiently afforded α‐aminophosphonates in good to excellent yields. Moreover, the present method offers metal‐free conditions, shorter reaction times, a broad substrate scope with good functional group tolerance, and facile scalability.
