Exploring CoCr 2 O 4 /rGO5 Nanocomposite for Energy Storage Applications
Abstract
ABSTRACT Spinel cobalt chromite is CoCr 2 O 4 (CCO) prepared through the auto combustion sol‐gel method, and its nanocomposite with reduced graphene oxide ( r GO) [CCO/ r GO] is designed via the ultrasonication method by the mixing of r GO (5 wt .%) in a solution of CoCr 2 O 4 . The performance of the as‐prepared CCO/rGO as a supercapacitor electrode material is investigated using sequential order cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic charge‐discharge, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Based on the electrochemical investigation, the nanocomposite exhibits a higher specific capacity of 662 C/g at a current density of 1 A/g, a maximum specific capacitance of 112.125 F/g at a current density of 0.5 A/g, and a maximum energy density of 5.6 Wh/kg at a current density of 0.5 A/g. CCO/ r GO shows significantly better electrochemical performance than pristine CCO compound. The overall study highlights the importance of mixed metal oxide‐2D material nanocomposites for supercapacitor electrode materials with superior performance.
