Abstract

Small extracellular vesicles (EVs) carry selective protein cargoes that reflect tumour cell status, contributing to cancer metastasis, immune suppression, and therapy resistance. The cover illustration depicts small EVs from head and neck cancer tumour, saliva, and plasma, symbolising their shared protein cargoes. Their overlapping protein cargoes, enriched in cancer-related pathways, emphasise the promise of saliva and plasma EVs as non-invasive liquid biopsy tools for biomarker discovery and cancer monitoring.
