Abstract

Abstract This recipe describes a method for building simulation-based PTHA at local scale, by combining an adequate discretization of source scenarios with high-resolution inundation modelling. This leads to tens to hundreds of thousands of moderately intensive numerical simulations being required. In recent years, more efficient GPU-based High-Performance Computing (HPC) facilities, together with efficient GPU-optimized models for simulating tsunami inundation, have made local hazard assessment a feasible but still highly computationally demanding task. To reduce the computational cost of the analysis, different strategies can be implemented.
