Abstract

Abstract The relativistic Boltzmann kinetic equation is reformulated using the rapidity variable, a Lorentz-invariant quantity with additive properties under boosts. From this, the equilibrium distribution function is obtained and its properties are explored, highlighting its applications and comparing its behavior with the usual Jüttner distribution function.
