Abstract

A nation should ensure the education of its citizens as it directly contributes to the nation’s wealth and well-being by increasing the productivity of its inhabitants. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is a long-awaited historic as well as holistic transformation of the conventional Indian education scenario. NEP2020 as it is popularly known envisages the creation of a flexible, adaptive and multidisciplinary learning framework that permits citizens to train themselves at any stage of their life in any domain of their choice. This freedom to train and transform shall thus enhance the productive workforce of the nation. The national implementation of this policy shall be controlled through the inception of the National Credits Framework (NCF) that shall equalize skill development based vocational education and conventional degree oriented academic learning into a single framework. This manuscript explores the potential of blended learning as a pedagogical basis to realize the objectives of NEP 2020. We perform a detailed analysis of adopting blended learning in the Indian context especially the rural and semi-urban areas. By integrating elements of both synchronous and asynchronous learning, this approach can cater to individual learners needs.
