Abstract

Food insecurity significantly impacts individuals’ lives in terms of health, economics and social well-being. Food insecurity has also been documented in high-income countries such as Canada, and disparities between rural and urban areas have been identified. This study aims to determine whether the factors influencing household food insecurity are the same before and after the pandemic, analyse whether their impact on food insecurity remains unchanged, and establish whether the identified factors have a greater impact in rural or urban areas. Living in a rural area, being unmarried, and having immigrated within the last few years are factors that have been found affecting negatively household food security.
