Abstract

The auscultation instrumentation of hydroelectric dams is essential to monitor their structural integrity and ensure the safety of communities and the environment. The automation of monitoring instruments emerges as an innovative solution to enhance this process, offering a range of significant benefits, in line with the increasing application and evolution of data analytics models. Automation of dam monitoring instruments represents a significant advancement in dam management, promoting a safer and more sustainable operation of hydroelectric facilities. This article explores the benefits of automating dam monitoring instruments in three key areas: operational efficiency, data accuracy, and safety, based on the authors experience in automating around 200 instruments of different types in 5 hydroelectric plants.
