Abstract

To achieve low-carbon development and energy transition, renewable energy (RE) plays an important role. Multi-energy complementary RE bases are vigorously promoted in China. This paper systematically reviews the global and domestic hydro, wind and solar power resources and spatiotemporal distribution. The current status of research on multi-energy complementary hydro-wind-solar-storage (HWSS) system is analyzed. We identify certain technical challenges existing in capacity configuration, planning optimization, and dynamic regulation, and construct a “resource assessment & capacity configuration & operation scheduling” technical framework for HWSS integrated base. Furthermore, in accordance with the engineering requirements and operational schedule, an integrated intelligent management and control platform for HWSS system is developed, which could significantly enhance the scientific planning capability and operational efficiency for multi-energy complementary HWSS bases.
