Abstract

The “2nd International Symposium on Very Low Earth Orbit Missions and Technologies” was held on the premises of the University of Stuttgart in Germany on the 13th and 14th of January 2025, with the Collaborative Research Center 1667 ATLAS acting as the main sponsor and organizer [ 1 , 2 ]. As a follow-up to the first symposium, which was hosted virtually by the EU Horizon2020 DISCOVERER team in June 2021 [ 3 , 4 ] and which lead to a first special issue of the CEAS Space Journal [ 5 ], this event brought together, for the first time in person, representatives from academia, industry and agencies interested in and/or working towards making sustainable Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) operations a reality.
