Abstract

The next generation of live behavioral interventions requires optimal accessibility for participants. Thus, the popularity and necessity of telebehavioral interventions is undeniable (Karbasi et al., 2024 ). However, amidst the ever-changing landscape of technology and complicated regulatory and institutional limitations (Psihogios & Stiles-Shields, 2025 ), how does one plan and execute a successful telebehavioral intervention? This article describes methodological and technical decisions required of clinicians and investigators seeking to redefine clinical practice and research in alignment with the communities they serve. Herein we provide a collaborative commentary from authors (licensed psychologists and psychology trainees) at several institutions, drawing from their experiences conducting clinical research and care in a variety of intervention designs and patient populations (family interventions for celiac disease (Vagadori et al., 2025 ), coping skills and biofeedback for inflammatory bowel disease (Reed et al., 2023 ), and pain management for sickle cell disease (Connolly et al., 2023 ). We present preliminary methods for telebehavioral interventions, solutions to challenges (Table 1 ), and a roadmap for future considerations.
