Design and construction of nanoscale CeO₂ enwrapped polymer nanocomposites with improved electrochemical properties
Abstract
In this study, various weight ratios of cerium oxide nanoparticles (CeO₂ NPs) added polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) based polymer nanocomposites (PNCs) have been prepared and systematically characterized. The prepared polymer nanocomposites were studied for structural, surface morphology, and electrochemical properties. The dielectric properties of the PNCs were found to be significantly influenced by the PVA/PVP blend polymer matrix and the concentration of CeO₂ NPs dispersed throughout the blend polymer matrix. The addition of CeO₂ to the PVA/PVP polymer matrix enhanced the dielectric constant (ε’) values, due to the reinforcing phase. In electrochemical studies, the capacitance retention of (PVA/PVP/1 wt% CeO 2 )//AC was shown to be 85% of its maximum stability even after 10,000 cycles.
