Abstract

Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) is a suite of IEEE standards enabling deterministic communication over Ethernet and wireless networks, ensuring bounded latency and minimal jitter. Among them, IEEE 802.1Qbv introduces time-aware scheduling through gate control lists for predictable transmissions. This paper presents an incremental scheduling method that exploits unused transmission gaps in an existing feasible TSN schedule. When a new stream must be scheduled, these gaps, along with the stream attributes and network topology, are used to build an Integer Linear Programming (ILP) model whose solution integrates the stream without altering existing traffic. The method is not limited to fixed-size gaps or no-wait scheduling, and preserves stream isolation whenever possible. Experiments show orders-of-magnitude reductions in analysis time compared to full rescheduling, while maintaining schedulability for most streams up to 75% utilization and about half at 90%, all with zero jitter.
