Colchicine and Clinical Outcomes in Patients With Coronary Artery Disease and Elevated C-Reactive Protein: A Real-World Propensity-Matched Study
Abstract
Inflammation is a key driver of atherosclerotic coronary artery disease (CAD), and elevated C-reactive protein (CRP) identifies patients at heightened residual inflammatory risk despite contemporary lipid-lowering and antithrombotic therapy.1–3 Randomized trials, including COLCOT and LoDoCo2, have demonstrated cardiovascular benefit with low-dose colchicine in patients with chronic or recent CAD,4,5 but data evaluating its effectiveness in real-world populations selected for elevated inflammatory burden remain limited.
