Nephrolithiasis in primary hyperparathyroidism: A systematic review of predictive markers and surgical outcomes
Abstract
Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is a common endocrine disorder characterized by autonomous parathyroid hormone (PTH) secretion and resulting hypercalcemia. Its prevalence approaches 300 per 100,000, with higher rates in postmenopausal women and individuals of Black ethnicity [1]. Nephrolithiasis occurs in 7–40% of PHPT cases, approximately four times the general population rate [2,3].
