Abstract

• A single-layer laser-based powder bed fusion setup for operation in a hypogravity drop tower is presented. • Process parameter settings for specimens manufactured in 3.1 s are found. • A high power 1.4 kW single-layer laser-based powder bed fusion process is presented. • The sintering and melting temperatures of LX lunar regolith simulants are measured.
