Abstract

Precision agriculture increasingly relies on combining heterogeneous data across farms, platforms, and organisations, yet fragmentation, limited interoperability, and concerns over sovereignty and misuse continue to hinder data sharing. This article presents DigiAgro DS, an IDSA-aligned agricultural data space that extends the AgroNIT platform toward secure, policy-governed, and interoperable exchange of agricultural data and services. The study follows a design-and-implementation approach and describes a reference architecture covering data ingestion and storage, identity and access management, connector-based exchange, usage control, and metadata-driven discovery. The implementation introduces a shared multi-tenant provider-side connector and a consumer-side delegated proxy that executes IDS discovery, contract negotiation, and usage-controlled data retrieval on behalf of individual farmers while preserving per-tenant ownership and contract state. The architecture is applied to representative scenarios involving procurement planning, extreme weather monitoring, and yield-related estimation. The resulting implementation supports sovereign agricultural data sharing through IDS-compliant components while lowering the participation barrier for non-technical stakeholders and maintaining enforceable access and usage policies. Validation is scenario-based, covering three representative agricultural use cases, and does not include performance benchmarking.
