Abstract

Psychiatric comorbidity is common and associated with poorer outcomes(1). Despite shared circuitry across disorders(2), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) trials typically target a single brain circuit and exclude individuals with comorbidities(3). For example, TMS for depression often targets a circuit defined by anticorrelation between the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) and the subgenual cingulate. This targeting strategy has been associated with antidepressant outcomes. However, its predictive value may be reduced in individuals with psychiatric comorbidities(4).
