LAMPOON Followed by Valve-in-Valve-in-Ring for Transcatheter Mitral Valve Replacement
Abstract
Left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) obstruction is a common and highly morbid complication of transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR) procedures. LVOT obstruction after TMVR can have detrimental consequences, with in-hospital mortality as high as 62% if left untreated.1,2 Laceration of the anterior mitral leaflet to prevent outflow obstruction (LAMPOON) is a transcatheter method of mitigating LVOT obstruction after TMVR that can act as an alternative to surgical mitral valve (MV) replacement in patients at high risk for post-TMVR LVOT obstruction.
