A decoupled multi-scale finite element approach for modeling interface cohesion in particle-reinforced elastomers
Abstract
This contribution presents a framework for decoupled homogenization of particle-reinforced elastomers considering interface cohesion. The homogenization scheme involves determination of a representative meso-scale sample, numerical material tests, and identification of macro-scale material parameters. The framework is applied to isotropic meso-scale samples across a full range of interface bonding stiffnesses. Results indicate a strong dependence of sample behavior on the bonding stiffness, particularly affecting the expansive volumetric behavior.
