Abstract

This study focused on the effective and high-durability repair treatment of corroded reinforced concrete (RC) columns with carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) and textile-reinforced engineered cementitious composites (TRECC). A total of 24 specimens were designed and loaded to study the effects of reinforcement corrosion levels, hoop reinforcement spacings, and repair methods on the axial compression behavior of the corroded RC columns. Test findings indicated that the peak loads of the corroded RC columns were effectively improved after being repaired with CFRP and TRECC by 84.91 %-157 % and 36.91 %-140.81 %, respectively. At lower reinforcement corrosion levels, CFRP achieved superior peak load improvement for corroded RC columns compared to TRECC, whereas the two repair methods exhibited close peak load improvement at higher reinforcement corrosion levels. The mechanical enhancement mechanism of the TRECC repair method included the confinement effect and axial load-sharing effect of the TRECC layer. Considering the influence of the reinforcement corrosion level, peak load calculation models for RC, corroded RC, CFRP repaired corroded RC, and TRECC repaired corroded RC columns were suggested, respectively. Furthermore, the applicability and accuracy of the calculation models were checked and proved by the tested and collected experimental data.
