From waste to model: Deciphering the degradation kinetics of mixed polymer under metal oxide-catalysed vacuum pyrolysis
Abstract
Understanding the intrinsic thermokinetic behaviour of heterogeneous plastic waste is essential for reactor optimization and catalyst-guided process intensification. In this study, the degradation kinetics of a mixed polymer system composed of polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) were investigated under non-isothermal thermogravimetric conditions (10,20,30 °C min⁻¹) with a comprehensive, ICTAC-aligned modeling framework. Thermogravimetric analysis revealed a highly synchronized single dominant mass-loss stage between 380 and 550 °C with negligible residue (
