Comment on “Impact of oral butyrate on clinical and biochemical parameters in IBD: A randomized placebo-controlled study targeting gut microbiota”
Abstract
We read with great interest the article by Facchin et al., “Impact of oral butyrate on clinical and biochemical parameters in IBD: A randomized placebo-controlled study targeting gut microbiota” (Digestive and Liver Disease, 2025). The authors are to be commended for conducting a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial and for highlighting the potential of microencapsulated butyrate supplementation to improve disease activity and quality of life in patients with IBD [1].
