Abstract

In this research, the quality of each stage and the final effluent of Mino's industrial waste water treatment plant is comprehensively investigated. In this regard, the water quality of the waste water treatment plant is examined from the point of view of physical, chemical and microbial characteristics. Moreover, the key relationship of each microbial parameters with the physicochemical parameter is evaluated in detail. As a result, the weaknesses and strengths of this waste water treatment plant are evaluated by using the detail information on the microbial and physicochemical conditions of the effluent, the stages and the output of the treatment plant. Finally, the optimal corrective solutions are suggested to improve the performance efficiency of this plant. For this purpose, physicochemical tests (conductivity, TDS, salinity, alkalinity, pH, BOD and COD), chemical tests (measurement of cations and anions) and microbial tests are performed. Microbial analysis includes general tests of TBC and Coliforms & E coli. and the special analysis such as APB, FP, IRB, NRB, Aero, SRB and TRB. The close relationship is obtained in between microbial factors and chemical condition. In short, the TBC of 100,000 cfu/ml in the inlet reaches to zero at the outlet. Moreover, Coliforms & E coli. of 10 7 at the inlet decreases to zero at the outlet. This result is in agreement with the conductivity of the sample with decreasing trend from 3650 ppm to 1370 ppm. On the other hand, BOD value (indicating the organic impurity) indicates 65 times decrease after performing biological sludge. As a corrective solution in this research, it is suggested to increase the dosage of oxidizing biocide to diminish FP, use of selective nitrate ion exchange resins before chlorination step to reduce NRB, injection of isothiazole after chlorination steps to reduce Aero. • Monitor the water quality of inlet, each stage and the final effluent of Mino's industrial waste water treatment plant • Analysis physical, chemical and microbial characteristics of waste water for treatment plant • Understand the relationship of each microbial parameters with the physicochemical parameter • Indicate the weaknesses and strengths of this waste water treatment plant • Propose the optimal corrective solutions to improve the performance efficiency of treatment plant
