Abstract

Uveal melanoma (UM) is associated with specific challenges due to its rare incidence. Optimal management of the disease requires multidisciplinary collaboration and coordination for the diagnosis, treatment, follow-up and support of patients at all stages and clearly established referral pathways.1 All patients should have access to centres with dedicated expertise in primary and metastatic UM either nationally or through cross-border access agreements, using the potential of the existing and forthcoming European Reference Networks as outlined in Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, the ambition of the European Union (EU) Cancer Mission and the establishment and connection of Comprehensive Cancer Care Infrastructures in the EU.
