Abstract

• Functional capacity, polypharmacy, and self-perceived quality of life are significantly associated with clinical risk group (CRG) assignment in older adults. • Barthel Index (BI) and EQ-5D/VAS are strong predictors of clinical risk in individuals under 80 years old. • Hand grip strength (HGS) showed relevant correlations with health-related quality of life but not with CRG assignment. • CRG assignment algorithms may lack key functional and subjective health indicators essential for precise risk stratification. • Integrating BI, HGS, and EQ-5D into CRG systems could enhance the identification of frail older adults in primary care. To examine the relationship between functional status, self-perceived quality of life and other health indicators, and their association with clinical risk and assignment to Clinical Risk Groups (CRGs) in older adults (≥65 years). Cross-sectional study conducted among older patients attending primary care in a city in Spain. Data from 384 community-dwelling older adults were analysed in groups
