Abstract

The field of pharmacogenomics (PGx), at the intersection of genetics and pharmacology, holds great potential for personalized medicine by leveraging individual genetic information to optimize drug selection and dosing. Integrating PGx testing into clinical practice can improve treatment outcomes and minimize adverse reactions across several medical specialties including oncology, cardiology, psychiatry, and others. Widespread implementation of PGx practices has lagged despite the robust efforts of many clinicians and organizations.
