Abstract

• Geogenic accumulation mechanisms of F, As, and U operate in central and northern Mexico. • A co-occurrence of F, As and U, not present in other parts of the world, was identified. • The effect of evaporation increases the concentrations of F, As, and U in groundwater. • Toxic elements in addition to F, As and U have been detected in the glassy matrix. • A geodynamic model reveals toxic element behavior in central and northern Mexico.
